Best Buys Latest Health Deals: Glucose Monitoring Systems

Best Buy will soon begin offering continuous glucose monitoring devices that require a prescription, opening the door to future broader offerings of physician-ordered health products for their patients.

Through a series of partnerships, Best Buy is orchestrating an effort for its customers to get Dexcom G7 branded continuous glucose monitoring systems in their homes. In an announcement at HLTH 2023 in Las Vegas, Best Buy said the Dexcom G7, which will cost $179.99 for a 30-day supply, is expected to be available on BestBuy.com by the end of November.

Best Buy said it works like this: A customer would connect with a doctor from Wheel, a virtual health company with a national network of doctors and other clinicians. Medical care providers would then determine whether the client is eligible for a continuous glucose monitor and write a prescription if so. The prescription is sent and processed by HealthDyne, a technology company known for its digital prowess in pharmaceuticals, which sends Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitoring directly to the customer.

It is the latest foray into health services and products from Best Buy. Earlier this year, Best Buy began partnering with U.S. health systems to develop new hospital-at-home offerings. And last year, Best Buy introduced hearing aid sales as part of what it called a new hearing aid experience, which included an expanded collection of such devices, as well as an experience in more than 300 stores and a new hearing service. online. assessment tool.
